Ubuntu-Women IRC Meeting January 25th-26th 2007
Once again, dinda took a lead in these meetings. Thanks again to her for her work!
Session 1: 15:00 UTC, January 25th
Topics Discussed:
The Ubuntu-Women Wiki
Should we continue to have a separate wiki from Ubuntu.com?
Should we move the separate wiki content to wiki.ubuntu.com?
A thread on list will be started to discuss the history of why we have our own wiki
The Ubuntu-Women Website
Do we have site admins who can make changes to the site in a timely manner?
The current website admins are:
Robin Sonefors : ozamosi AT blinkenlights.se
Vidya Ayer : svaksha AT gmail.com
This "Website Team" for Ubuntu-Women should be listed somewhere
HCI
ambimom felt that an HCI project at this point in the life of Ubuntu-Women might be premature, since there is still some group strengthening that may need to be done
Others felt that making a contribution in the community would be the best way to have women be taken more seriously was to embark on the HCI project and make some visible contributions
Some details of HCI were discussed, much was HCI basics review
Ubuntu-Women Leadership - dinda felt it may be productive to have some official leadership positions in the group defined on the website so people know who to go to to contribute
ambimom seemed quite concerned with the turnout to the meeting, thinking perhaps it was reflective of how many women were actually involved with the project
(just a note from me, Elizabeth Bevilacqua, in writing up these meeting notes: I was unable to attend the meeting due to my schedule and IRC is not for everyone, the handful of women who showed up for the meeting are just those who could make it and were interested - it is not representative of everyone supporting and contributing to Ubuntu-Women. All of the admins and most of the regular chatters in #ubuntu-women are female.)
There was discussion of attending Conferences and Barcamps (apparently several of us really enjoy beer!) to boost our own experience (and have fun) as well as visibility of women
Session 2: 3:00 UTC, January 26th
This session was canceled due to low attendance.
