Bio
Hello, those of you who hang out in IRC know me as valorie; Valorie Zimmerman, Kubuntu member. My main interests in Ubuntu and Kubuntu are documentation and community. I've written the Handbook and Amarok Insider for Amarok, and am also active in Linuxchix, Seattle Linuxchix, Ubuntu Women, and the Washington Ubuntu LoCo (Local Community).
Other activities: My family, reading, art, music, photography, PFLAG (Parents, Family & Friends of Lesbians and Gays), Alsachat.net, an international genealogy project, and my ''Linux Grandma'' blog.
Future Goals for team
I believe that we've built a very solid foundation for our project, and have a good reputation around the Ubuntu community. We have done this by encouraging and modeling increasing contributions by women and supportive men to the Ubuntu project. So not only do we need to continue to do this, but find creative ways to find more women, and then continue to do our good encouragement, training, mentoring and modeling work. I feel our contests are a wonderful way to reach out to women who haven't heard of us, and maybe aren't even using Ubuntu yet.

Valorie's dedication to inclusiveness (in Ubuntu and beyond!) and willingness to try new things is inspiring. She has done extensive work with her LoCo and made a great presence at OSCON these past couple years, not only for her LoCo but by being an ambassador for the Ubuntu Women project by handing out fliers and stickers and engaging folks who came to their booth. -- lyz 2011-08-03 00:21:33
Valorie is a great example for all of us, she is so welcoming and encouraging, she has helped bring many people out of their shells and into contributing. She puts so much work into her projects, I am sure she would bring the same level of dedication to the UW leadership. -- cheri703 2011-08-06 03:04:11
Valorie contributes in so many ways to so many different areas of the open source community! I feel she would make a fantastic UW leader. -- -- jledbetter 2011-08-07 15:21:02
