HCI (Human-Computer Interaction)
Summary
This is a Usability initiative started by Ubuntu-Women members and anyone interested in desktop usability performance and improvement can pitch in. Our goal is to help the Ubuntu developers in their efforts to create simple and easy-to-use applications for the desktop.
Initial areas of interest :
Reduce machine-user interaction problems,
Improve user testing by collecting user feedback vis-a-vis select applications,
Co-ordinate with Ubuntu/upstream maintainers to remove usability related bug issues, and
Integrate all data inputs with the visual experts in Ubuntu.
What is Usability
Gnome has a nice document on "why usability is important?" in Gnome applications.
On the web :
Development
Track the specifications at the 2007 UDS at Sevilla for the Feisty+1 release.
Launchpad Product : HCI is registered as a product on Launchpad. If you have joined the UW team on LP you can use it to track/store contributions, file bugs, etc.. Take some time to get familiar with our online tools like Malone (for bug tracking) and track specifications or get tech support in Launchpad and you have a good start.
